How does the crusher work?
Roll crushers are commonly used in the mining and aggregate industries to crush materials. They operate by compressing rock between two cylinders. Here's a basic overview of how roll crushers work:

Feed Hopper: Raw materials are fed into the crusher through a vibrating feeder or a grizzly feeder. The feeder distributes the material evenly along the length of the rolls.
Roll Crusher Components:
Rotating Rolls: The crusher consists of two rotating rolls, one fixed and the other movable. These rolls are cylindrical and are typically made of durable materials such as manganese steel.
Spring Mechanism: The movable roll is mounted on a spring mechanism. This allows the roll to move inwards and outwards to adjust the size of the discharge opening and to protect the crusher from uncrushable objects.
Crushing Process:
As material is fed into the crusher, the two rolls rotate towards each other.
The material is pulled into the gap between the rolls and is crushed as it passes through. The size of the gap determines the size of the crushed material.
Discharge: The crushed material is discharged through the bottom of the crusher, either directly into a bin or onto a conveyor belt. The spring mechanism ensures that the rolls return to their original position after passing any uncrushable material, maintaining the desired crushing size.

Questions about the crusher
How do I choose between a single-stage and a two-stage Roll Crusher?
The choice depends on the feed size and desired product size. Once you know these, you can determine the appropriate crusher based on the required reduction ratio.
Will wet, sticky materials impact the performance of a Roll Crusher?
Yes, wet, sticky feed can plug a two-stage crusher between the stages. In such cases, it's recommended to use two separate single-stage crushers.
What alternative crushing technologies should I consider besides Roll Crushers?
Consider Impact Crushers, DDC-Sizers, and Hammermills, each offering unique advantages and disadvantages depending on your needs.
What is the typical reduction ratio for different types of Roll Crushers?
Single Roll Crushers: 6:1
Double Roll Crushers: 4:1
Triple Roll Crushers: 6:1 on top stage, 4:1 on bottom stage
Quad Roll Crushers: 4:1 on both stages
What materials can Single Roll Crushers handle effectively?
They are ideal for ROM coal, mine refuse, shale, slate, gypsum, bauxite, salt, and soft shale, among others, producing minimal fines.
What is the primary use of Double Roll Crushers?
They are used as secondary or tertiary crushers for materials like ROM coal, limestone, gypsum, trona, shale, bauxite, oil shale, clean coal, coke, salt, quicklime, burnt lime, glass, and brick shale.
Can Double Roll Crushers handle sticky materials?
Yes, they can handle sticky materials, but each machine is customized with roll elements and tooth patterns to suit the specific application.
How do Single Roll Crushers minimize the production of fines?
They are designed with intermeshing roll teeth and a curved crushing plate, making them effective at reducing slabby feeds while producing minimal fines.
What is the advantage of using a Quad Roll Crusher?
Quad Roll Crushers offer a higher capacity and a more uniform product with a 4:1 reduction ratio on both the top and bottom stages.
How are Roll Crushers customized for different applications?
Roll Crushers are custom engineered with specific roll elements and tooth patterns selected based on the application requirements to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
